How to make Omelette in Air Fryer

If you love Omelettes, you will be impressed at how easy it is to make an omelette in air fryer or an Air Fryer Omelette.

Air fryer Omelettes are so juicy and fluffy and taste so good. They are surely way better than cooking an omelet in a pan.

Also, the best part?

You do not need to risk your life and flip the entire omelet like you do while cooking on a pan, and yet the omelet comes out perfect, just like it would any day.

There are so many ways to make an Omelette in an air fryer, but in this recipe, I have used a cake pan that I use in my air fryer.

You can also make an omelet without a pan, and one of the common ways to do so is by using parchment paper. I will discuss these methods briefly in this post as well.

However, using a pan and making it is the cleanest and safest option.

You can use aluminum trays, aluminum foil baskets, or parchment paper baskets to make this omelet in an air fryer; a pan is the safest way to avoid spilling.

Why make this recipe

1. It just takes 5 minutes to make this Omelet.
2. You do not have to flip it in the air fryer like in a pan.
3. You can add veggies and healthy toppings to make this a filling breakfast.
4. You can easily make Omelet for two in a cooking session with an air fryer.

Ingredients and Substitutions

1. 2 large eggs- You can use any eggs of your choice.

2. 1/4 cup diced onions- I prefer adding Onions as it gives a nice balance to the savory taste of the egg but you can use any other veggie or meat of your liking and you do not have to stick to onions.

3. 1/4 cup diced tomatoes- Tomatoes on omelette are my favorite as I love the fresh taste of chopped-up tomatoes in my omelets. Feel free to swap this with red bell peppers or any other veggie of your liking.

4. 1/4 cup diced bell peppers- I have used green bell peppers or capsicum for this recipe, but you can use any other topping, like zucchini, and mix it in the omlete. You can customize the omlete to your liking.

5. Salt and pepper to taste

6. Chopped spring onions for garnish

How to make Air fryer Omlette

1. In a bowl, beat the eggs until well combined. I mix it well and do not spend any extra time beating the eggs, and the result is still a nice fluffy omelet.

2. Add diced onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers to the beaten eggs. You can add any other veggie or topping in this step.

I chose to mix Onion + tomatoes + bell peppers, but you can swap or add any other topping.

Mix well so that the eggs and the toppings are well combined, and make sure they do not settle down before you pour it into a tin pan or a mold.

3. Mix salt and pepper in the eggs to season evenly throughout.

4. Lightly grease a tin pan that fits inside your air fryer basket. You can use a silicone liner basket or silicone mold in this step.

Another way would be to make a basket or pan using aluminum foil or parchment paper and cook the eggs.

5. Pour the egg mixture into the tin pan.

6. Place the tin pan in the air fryer basket and cook at 200°C for 5 minutes. Keep an eye on the omelet to avoid overcooking. If you have more eggs, then it can take a bit longer; just make sure to check after the 5-minute mark.

7. Once the omelet is cooked, carefully remove the tin pan from the air fryer.

8. Garnish the omelette with chopped spring onions on top.

9. Slice and serve the air fryer omelette immediately.

Different ways to make an Omelette in air fryer

You can use a few different ways to cook omelette in an air fryer. Since the egg is a liquid, you cannot pour it directly into the air fryer basket as it would just seep through the holes and go in the grease trap basket underneath.

1. Metal Utensil- The easiest way is to use an air fryer-safe utensil and try and cook in it. Any utensil in the oven, including metal utensils, will work safely in the air fryer.

If not for metal utensils, you can use a cake tin just like I did in this recipe.

2. Silicone Mold- Another super easy way is to use a silicone mold. This is easier to clean, and the eggs won’t spill when cooking using the right silicone mold.

3. Parchment paper is another alternative, but I would use it when you don’t have either metal utensil or silicone mold.

4. Aluminum foil- You can use an aluminum foil basket or make a basket and cook eggs in it. This is another great way to make a temporary aluminum tray and cook your omelet.

Topping Ideas for Omlette

You can add a variety of toppings to your omelet depending on what you like, but here are some of the top favorite omelet toppings to get you a headstart.

  1. Cheddar Cheese
  2. Diced Tomatoes
  3. Sautéed Mushrooms
  4. Spinach
  5. Diced Ham
  6. Bell Peppers
  7. Feta Cheese
  8. Fresh Herbs (Chives, Parsley)
  9. Avocado Slices
  10. Bacon Bits

How to serve an Omelette

1. On a Plate: Gently slide the omelet onto a plate, perhaps folding it in half or rolling it for a classic presentation. You can enhance its appeal by garnishing it with fresh herbs or a spring onion.

2. Accompanied by Sides: Present the omelet alongside complementary sides such as toast, hash browns, or a fresh salad. Add condiments like salsa, hot sauce, or sour cream, depending on your liking.

3. Wrapped in a Tortilla or Crepe: Place the omelette in the center of a tortilla or crepe and roll it up to create a breakfast burrito or a savory crepe.

4. Cut into Strips or Squares: Cut the omelet into strips or bite-sized squares, and arrange them on a platter for an appetizer-style serving.

5. Top with Fresh Herbs or Greens: Sprinkle fresh herbs like chives, parsley, or cilantro on the omelet, and add a handful of mixed greens for a fresh and vibrant touch.

6. Drizzled with Sauce: Consider drizzling the omelet with a sauce, such as hollandaise, salsa, or pesto, to add an extra layer of flavor.

7. Garnished with Avocado or Guacamole: Top the omelet with slices of avocado or a dollop of guacamole for added creaminess and richness.

Tips on making air fryer Omelette

1. Grease the Pan: To prevent sticking, lightly grease the pan or use cooking spray before adding the eggs.

2. Thoroughly Whisk Eggs: Whisk them thoroughly in a bowl before pouring them into the pan. This ensures a uniform texture

3. Control the Temperature: Be mindful of the air fryer temperature. Cooking at a moderate temperature helps prevent overcooking or burning.

4. Avoid Overcrowding: Avoid overfilling the pan with too many ingredients. This could impact the cooking process and result in unevenly cooked omelets, or you can spill some of the egg out, making a mess.

5. Experiment with Fillings: You can add unique fillings to your omelet. Consider using a variety of cheeses, vegetables, meats, or herbs to customize the flavor.
