How to Toast bread in Air fryer?- Easy and Quick!

Bread toast is one of my favorite things to make in an air fryer. If you’re wondering how to toast bread in air fryer, this post will guide you through all the steps.

It’s easy and simple, resulting in a perfect golden crispy outside and evenly toasted bread.

This eliminates the need to invest in a toaster, especially if you’re cooking for a family of two. It’s the perfect way to make toast every single time.

With the air fryer, you achieve consistent, perfect results, making it one of my favorite methods for making toast.

So, how long does it take to make toast in an air fryer, and at what temperature should you make toast in an air fryer?

I’ll answer all of that in this recipe, so read on to the end.

Ingredients and Substitutions

3-4 Slices of Bread- I use Texas toast-style thick bread because I love double cut bread for toast. Use any bread you like; make sure it’s not thinner than 0.5 cm.

You can use any kind of bread—sourdough, ciabatta, or artisan. Any bread will do for this toast recipe.

1/2 tbsp Butter– I’m using butter as a topping and not using it while cooking the toast. You can also use other toppings like fruit jam, honey, Nutella, or anything else you like on this toast.

How to toast bread in Air fryer?

1. Making toast in an air fryer is easy. All you need to do is place some bread slices in the air fryer basket.

Tip: No need to spray oil or apply butter—mostly, it would burn if you do so. If you want your toast to stay moist, apply a thin layer of mayo on the sides, but this is optional. I use this technique to make grilled cheese and the bread toasts beautifully.

2. Set the temperature at 200°C and toast one side of the bread for 3-4 minutes.

Now, flip the other side and toast it at the same temperature for another 2 minutes.

Your toasted bread is ready! Enjoy!

How long do you need to toast bread in air fryer?

You can toast bread in the air fryer for about 5-6 minutes, depending on how much color you want on your toast.

If your toast gets too dry, apply a very thin layer of mayo on both sides before toasting your bread.

A healthier alternative to mayo is olive oil. You can also spray some olive oil on both sides of the bread to get an even browning.

best bread for making toast in an air fryer?

Like I said earlier, thick-cut bread like Texas toast or sourdough bread is perfect for making toast in the air fryer.

Thinner bread slices can fly around in the air fryer, and you might want to be careful about it as it can get caught in the heating element and catch fire.

I would suggest you stack another bread on top of thinner breads so that they hold each other down and reduce the chances of them flying in the air fryer basket.

What to do if the bread flies inside the air fryer?

You can use a toothpick to hold the thin bread slices down. However, I have had situations where even the toothpicks got burnt and flew off, lol.

So you have to be aware of the thinner bread slices and check on them after a minute or two in the air fryer. They won’t fly in later if they have not taken a flight in the first 1-2 minutes.

This is one reason I prefer thicker bread slices in the air fryer. You can always check if your bread slice would fly or not by toasting one bread slice.

Do you need to flip the bread when you toast it in air fryer?

You do not have to flip the bread when you toast it in the air fryer, but it would be nice if you do so that you can get an even brown toasty color on both sides of the bread.

The bread would still get toasted, but would be brown on one side and white on the other. This is why it is essential to flip the bread halfway through the toasting process.

How do you serve bread toast?

There are several ways you can serve toasted bread, and some of the most fun ways are:

1. With softened butter: A classic way to eat toasted bread is with butter; if you disagree, then check out the other ways you can eat toasted bread.

2. Cheese Spread: I love using a cheese spread on toasted bread; the cheese’s creaminess and the toast’s crispy exterior hit the spot, making it a great combo. You can also make a cheese toast instead of a regular toast.

3. With honey and fruits: This is a sweeter alternative to the above two ways to eat toast, and it tastes good when you have cravings.

4. Avocado on toast: This is a classic again, yet it is so delicious, creamy, and appetizing that I would eat avocado on toast every day. It is an excellent alternative to butter, and you should try it!

5. Toast with scrambled eggs: Have you ever scooped up some lovely velvety scrambled eggs on your toast and taken a bite into it? It tastes like heaven. This combo is my forever favorite and makes for a healthy, well-balanced breakfast.
