How to reheat pizza in an air fryer
Reheating pizza in an air fryer is easy; place the pizza slices in the air fryer basket and reheat for a couple of minutes.
The time and temperature are crucial to getting the best reheated pizza slices.
There’s no need to preheat the air fryer like an oven. While you can choose to preheat if desired, great results can be achieved without preheating.
The outcome is incredible. The reheated pizza slice has a crispy crust that tastes like the pizza is freshly cooked from the oven.
How to get a crispy crust while reheating a pizza?
The air fryer circulates hot air inside, which causes the food to cook evenly. This process allows the pizza base to become crispy, and even though you may not see a lot of browning, the crust gets extremely crispy.
Make sure to set a temperature of about 350 degrees Fahrenheit and above, and you can achieve a crispy crust on any pizza.
The reheating time depends on the crust’s thickness so it can be a learning curve, which is different for different air fryers.
However, it is easy to get a nice crispy crust once you crack the code, unlike other methods. I usually reheat the pizza at the maximum temperature to get a crispy crust after reheating it.
However, depending on the thickness of the crust, the ‘reheat time’ will vary.
How to avoid toppings from getting burnt?
You can try giving the top a quick oil spray to prevent the toppings from getting burnt while reheating pizza slices in the air fryer.
Since the air fryer coil is positioned at the top of the basket, there’s a chance the toppings could get a bit too crispy(or burnt) while the base reheats.
If you want, give it a light oil spray before popping it in.
I personally haven’t had this issue as I keep an eye on my pizza slice, but it’s an extra step you can take for extra assurance.
How long do you reheat a pizza slice in an air fryer?
It depends on the thickness of the pizza slice and the specific air fryer model. A regular hand-tossed pizza from Domino’s typically takes about 3-4 minutes to reheat in an air fryer.
The timing may vary if you choose to reheat your pizza at lower temperatures. However, the difference in time would usually be around 1-2 extra minutes, not more.
Reheating pizza slices in an air fryer is indeed a quick process. The best part is the resulting crispy crust and a hot slice that tastes freshly made.
Using an air fryer effectively eliminates any issues with sogginess or uneven reheating.
At what temperature do you reheat a pizza slice in an air fryer?
I reheat my pizza slices at 390°F, which turns out perfectly fine. I don’t have the patience to wait for long and hence, crank up the temperature to reheat my pizza slice.
The result is a nice crispy crust and not overly burnt cheese and toppings.
However, this method uses high temperatures, so I would advise you to monitor your pizza slice closely as it can quickly burn inside the air fryer, even if you’re just a minute late.
How to reheat thin-crust pizza in an air fryer?
I use the same temperature as a normal crust pizza and reduce the reheating time for a thin-crust pizza. So, I reheat it for about two and a half minutes at 390°F.
You can reheat for a bit longer if you want a crispier cheese on top, but I felt two and a half minutes was sufficient for me.
So, add additional minutes if needed.
How to reheat deep dish pizza in an air fryer
If you are reheating deep dish pizza in an air fryer, I would say reheat at 350°F because the pizza is thick, and you need to reheat the entire slice evenly.
So, reheat it at 350 for about 5 minutes, and then if needed, you can crank reheat it for an additional 1-2 minutes, depending on how hot you want it.
Deep Dish pizzas are thick, so I recommend a lower temperature so you can evenly reheat the entire pizza slice.
Do I need to use aluminum foil to reheat the pizza?
You do not need to use aluminum foil, but if you do not want to get the surface of your air fryer basket greasy, I recommend you line your air fryer basket with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
I did not use parchment paper or any liner because I felt it was unnecessary for the slices I reheated. However, if you have a pizza with extra cheese, then I would say you can use liners.
It won’t change the results of the reheated pizza, and you will still be able to enjoy a crispy base. A liner would make clean-up easier afterward.
