Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Fries- Quick and Easy!

If you love french fries, wait until you get a bag of these frozen chicken fries and make them in the air fryer. This air fryer frozen chicken fries recipe is one of my favorites.

It is a great alternative for someone trying to go for high protein and low cal options, making French fries a big NO!

French fries are delicious, but wait til you try their chicken alternative; it can be a game changer.

Chicken fries are very similar to chicken nuggets, the only difference being the shape between the two.

Chicken fries are a fun snack for game days, family gatherings, and movie nights. They are healthier, crispy, and taste great with ketchup. The best part?

Kids will also love them, which makes them the best healthy snack fries out there!

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of frozen chicken fries- Any chicken fries with a great breading on top will work well as all you need to make them crispy in the air fryer is a good breaded air fryer frozen chicken fries.
  • Perforated parchment paper (optional for lining the air fryer basket)
  • Dipping sauce

How to make Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Fries

Preparation: I usually start by lining the air fryer basket with perforated parchment paper. This helps to prevent sticking, and the perforation allows for better air circulation.

Cooking the Chicken Fries in the Air Fryer: Place the chicken fries(no need to thaw) in the air fryer on a single layer of parchment paper. Place the loaded air fryer basket into the air fryer without preheating.

Cooking: Set the air fryer temperature to 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit). Cook the chicken fries for 10 minutes and flip them halfway through the cooking time to get crispy on both sides.

Flipping: Around the 5-minute mark, carefully open the air fryer and flip the chicken fries using tongs or a spatula. This will help the chicken fries get crispy on both sides. You can even flip them at the 6-7 minute mark.

Monitoring: Monitor the chicken fries during cooking and adjust the time needed. Some air fryers take a bit longer to get both sides of the chicken fries crispy. So cook for 1-2 minutes if that is the case.

Check for Doneness: Once the cooking time is complete, check the chicken fries for doneness. They should be golden brown and have a crispy exterior.

Serve and Enjoy: Serve the chicken fries with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup, sweet chili garlic sauce, BBQ sauce, chili garlic sauce, or ranch dressing.

How long to cook Frozen Chicken in Air fryer

How long to cook frozen chicken fries in air fryer depends on two factors- the temperature and the air fryer model.

If you cook at a lower temperature, you may have to fry the chicken fries in the air fryer for a longer time, maybe around 15-18 minutes. But you should get better results if you cook at maximum air fryer temperature.

Another factor is the Wattage of the air fryer. I own a Philips Air Fryer with a 2000W, one of the most powerful air fryers(in terms of Wattage) out there.

If your air fryer has a lower wattage, you can cook at the same temperature, but it can take you a bit longer to get your fries crispy.

What to serve with Chicken fries

Vegetable Sticks: You can include a side of fresh vegetable sticks, as the chicken fries will give a crunchy contrast to the chicken fries.

Macaroni and Cheese: A comforting and cheesy mac and cheese dish with chicken fries can be a delicious side. It tastes delicious, and you will not regret your decision.

Tacos or Nachos: Combine the crunch of French fries with the flavors of tacos or nachos for a unique twist. You can dip them in the creamy, cheesy dip you get with both, or you can load these chicken fries with some nachos toppings and drizzle some cheese.

Grilled Sandwiches: Grilled cheese, paninis, or any other grilled sandwich can be accompanied by French fries.

Classic French Fries: Double down on the fries! Serve regular or sweet potato fries alongside your chicken fries for a great game day or appetizer combo.

This might not be ideal for Weight Watchers, but mixing your regular fries with chicken fries is also a step towards losing weight.

Tips to get the Best Air fryer frozen chicken fries

1. Use Perforated Parchment Paper: I like to use a parchment liner when cooking frozen foods because it makes the air fryer very messy. It also promotes even cooking and helps maintain the fries’ crispiness without sacrificing the air fryer’s convenience.

2. Flip the Chicken Fries: Flip the chicken fries halfway through the cooking time. This ensures that both sides of the fries receive even heat, resulting in a uniformly crispy texture. Avoiding flipping may make one side crispy while the other remains soggy.

3. Avoid Preheating: While some recipes recommend preheating the air fryer, you can skip the preheating part to save time. The cooking process begins as soon as you start the air fryer.

4. No need for more oil- Since frozen chicken fries are already pre-fried and frozen, they contain some oil. Adding more oil may lead to an overly greasy texture. If you use oil, consider spraying a small amount to enhance crispiness without excessive greasiness.

5. Experiment with Seasonings: You can customize the flavor of these chicken fries by shaking them in your favorite spice mix or seasoning blend before cooking. Mix in some chili lime powder with the fries to get some spicy tangy fries or change the seasoning and flavor to your liking.
