Ingredients:
1 medium-sized zucchini, washed and thinly sliced- Make sure you thinly slice all the zucchini; otherwise, it would be difficult for all of them to get crispy simultaneously. If you want consistent results, then you have to make sure that you slice all of them evenly and pat them dry to remove excess water so the seasoning can stick well on them.
1 tablespoon olive oil- I use olive oil so the seasonings can stick to the zucchini.
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
How to make Zucchini Chips in Air Fryer
1. Prepare the Zucchini: Wash the zucchini with water and cut it into thin, even slices. The thinner the slices, the better, as it would cook up the zucchini chips faster. Just make sure to adjust the cooking time accordingly. Make sure all the zucchini chips are evenly thin; otherwise, one will cook sooner than the other if each piece has a varying thickness.
2. Coat with Seasonings and Parmesan: Combine all the seasonings and olive oil in a bowl. Pat dry the zucchini slices to remove excess water, and now toss the zucchini into the seasoning and olive oil mix. Ensure the slices are well coated with the seasonings and cheese.
3. Arrange in the Air Fryer Basket: Place the zucchini slices that we seasoned in the previous step on the Air Fryer Basket. Please place it in a single layer, as shown in the image. Ensure they are not overlapping to allow even cooking.
4. Air Fry at 190°C (375°F): Set the air fryer temperature to 190°C (375°F) and cook for about 10-12 minutes. At the 5-minute mark, check on the zucchini slices and flip them so they cook evenly on both sides.
5. Check for Crispiness: Keep an eye on the zucchini chips; if needed, cook for an additional time until they reach your desired level of crispiness. Cooking times may vary depending on the zucchini slices’ thickness and the air fryer model.
6. Serve: Once the zucchini chips are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve the zucchini chips with a dip.
Seasoning Ideas for Zucchini Chips in Air Fryer
You can switch the seasoning from the recipe above to any of the below and try different variations of zucchini chips.
I like to keep the seasoning simple and go for a nice creamy dip, but if you want the seasoning more flavorful, you can use any of the below.
1. Everything Bagel Zucchini Chips: Sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried onion flakes, dried garlic flakes and salt
2. Chili Lime Zucchini Chips: Chili powder, lime zest, cayenne
3. Sesame Ginger Zucchini Chips: Sesame oil, ground ginger, soy sauce, sesame seeds
4. Lemon Herb Zucchini Chips: Lemon zest, dried herbs ( you can use anything between thyme, rosemary, or oregano), garlic powder
5. Spicy Cajun Zucchini Chips: Cajun seasoning, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika.
6. Smoky BBQ Zucchini Chips: Barbecue seasoning mix or smoked paprika, cumin, brown sugar.
Dips for Zucchini Chips
Lemon Basil Yogurt Dip: This dip is easy to make. You must combine Greek yogurt, fresh lemon juice, chopped basil, salt, and a bit of honey.
Feta and Herb Dip: Blend feta cheese, add salt and pepper, and some chopped fresh herbs such as parsley, dill, and a dash of olive oil.
Roasted Garlic Hummus: In a food processor, combine chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and olive oil. Chop some roasted garlic, roast it in olive oil, and pour it over the hummus.
Chipotle Ranch Dip: Mix ranch dressing and blend with chipotle peppers. You can dip the chips in classic ranch without any extra addition, and it would still taste so good.
Avocado Lime Crema: Mash ripe avocado with sour cream, lime juice, chopped cilantro, and a pinch of cumin.
If you do not want to make a dip, you can easily go for the storebought ranch, guacamole, BBQ sauce, blue cheese dressing, a dip you love, which would taste great.
How to store Leftover Zucchini Chips?
Leftover zucchini chips can be stored for a certain period of time, depending on how you store them.
In the fridge: If you have leftover zucchini chips, refrigerate them in an airtight container. Zucchini chips stored this way can last for about 1 to 2 days.
Freezing: While zucchini chips are best enjoyed fresh, you can freeze them for longer storage. Freeze them individually first so they do not sit, and once frozen that way, transfer them to a freezer bag or airtight container. Frozen zucchini chips can be stored for up to 2 to 3 months.
Remember that the longer zucchini chips are stored, the more likely they will lose their crispiness. Reheating them briefly in an oven or air fryer may help restore some of the crisp texture.
